A Seagull, a mini palette and artjournal pages.

In one week from today I will be flying home to Finland for my yearly summer visit. I am very much looking forward to leave the big city behind me and enjoy the small town life and the boat life out in the archipelago instead.

I'm looking forward to hear the birds singing and the sound of waves. I am also very much looking forward to enjoy breathing clean fresh air again.

It has been another great week in the studio. Actually greater than usual as the renovation upstairs has developed from using drilling tools to using the hammer. The sound of the hammer doesn't resonate here below the same way as the drilling does, so it is a great improvement.

Seagull. I haven't come up with a title for it yet. Watercolour on cold pressed cotton paper, 26x38 cm. I'm pleased with how the light turned out in this one. (ref. pic from Paul Hruza from the Facebook group 'Photos for artists')

I made a small travel palette out of an old cigarette tin box. I wanted to take some artist grade paint with me home to add to my travel sketch bag.

I received my new watercolour art journal by post this week, so I thought I would share the last two pages from my now old and filled big artjournal. Waterlily. Just experimenting with backgrounds. Keeping it simple.

Another very simple composition, an Avocet. I really like the absence of a 'real' background here. It makes me think of a misty morning where everything is so still that you can hear a seagulls cry from miles away.

That was it for this week. I wish you all a great weekend.
